Ritidian Point

Drove up to Ritidian Point just to take a picture.

This is where I went to take the picture.

Drove up to the point just to see the "No Stopping" sign. So I continued on maybe go to the beach and take pictures, but when I got to the bottom, there was another sign saying that the beach is closed. So I made a U-turn and took a video of my drive up.

When I got back up, I parked about 100 feet from the sign and ran to this area.

I stitched a series of photos to get this image on Microsoft ICE.

Travelling to Ritidian, you'll see a small monument.

This is what it says:
NORTHWEST FIELD GUAM

HOME OF THE 315TH BOMB WING

THE LAST MISSION

August 14, 1945, nine days after Hiroshima and five days after Nagasaki, 143 B-29s left Northwest Field on a secret mission to destroy Nippon Oil Fields at Akita, Japan. A total of 132 reached the primary target and accomplished their mission, all planes returned safely.

This was the longest mission flown from the Marianas - an average of 17 hours.
President Harry S. Truman announced the official end of WWII as the B-29s were returning home.

Other Bomb Wings involved in missions from the Marianas included:

73rd - Isley Field, Saipan

313th - North Field, Tinian

314th - North Field, Guam

This is how the moon looks for this night.
