Floyd's Famous B-B-Q

The other night, I had dinner at Floyd's at the Ayala Technohub located in Smallville, Mandurriao.

Facebook Page

I made a Facebook Page for this blog.
You can access it here, Bernard Olivares Blog, or by clicking the Facebook icon to the right.

Don't forget to like ^_^

I really don't know what to expect from this, but I just might upload some pictures of Gundams and maybe some things that interest me.

Yellow Cab Pizza Co.

There's only one Yellow Cab Pizza Co. place here in Iloilo, and it's located within SM City. The pizza is very delicious; if you like pasta, I recommend the Charlie Chan Pasta.

If you're in Smallville and got a craving for ice cream, check out Nothing But Desserts.

I only ate here once. I would definitely come back.

Krua Thai

If you're looking for some authentic Thai cuisine, head on over to Krua Thai in Smallville. The food is delicious and the ambiance is great. Plus, it's not crowded. It's hard to choose an item from the menu because not all of them have pictures. Most dishes are named in Thai and don't have descriptions, so basically, you'd have no idea what you're ordering, that is if you're new to Thai cuisine, like me.

Jalandoni Flyover Bridge

This is the second flyover bridge built in Iloilo. I'm not really sure if it's called the Jalandoni Flyover Bridge, but it does intersect Jalandoni street.

Ate at Greenwich the other day. I ordered the Snack-sized lasagna.

I didn't expect it to be small in size, it didn't satisfy my appetite.

Living In Iloilo: Traffic Enforcers

One thing I dread the most is being in traffic. Traffic here in Iloilo is not at bad as the traffic in Manila, but it's getting there.

Traffic Lights at intersections don't even work nor will they be needed. Roads aren't wide enough which leads to a bottleneck effect, and there are no traffic enforcers to be found.

Seriously, this place needs traffic enforcers and they should be equipped with 2-way radios, and work at all hours of the day, so that the flow of traffic will be smooth.

Sometimes when I think about it, people are just too lazy to walk to and from the designated loading and unloading areas.

A couple of weeks ago, I went on a last minute trip to Manila to meet up with my mom and girlfriend. My mom was to undergo surgery but there were some discrepancies with the insurance agency, so it turned out that the trip to Manila was for nothing. We ended up spending the day at the Mall of Asia.

First thing we did was eat at Subway for lunch.

They put way less meat and veggies on the sandwich, compared to how they make them on Guam, where the sandwich seemed to burst from the meat and veggies. Oh well. Great food anyways.

Pepsi Blue / Pepsi Pinas

Remember Pepsi Blue?

I do, it has a berry taste and is in a really cool shade of blue. Well it's back! Here in the Philippines, that is, under the name Pepsi Pinas. It's sold in 1.5 liter bottles.

I really hope this flavor of Pepsi stays for as long as it can.

I'll edit this post some time in the near future when I can get a better picture of the bottle.

My brother sent me an invite for Google+. I really like it! It's kinda like a mix between Facebook and Twitter. One thing I noticed, is that you can't post on other peoples' profile page, only comment to what they post (I think).

I hardly have any friends to send invites to. Hell, I hardly have any friends at all, and I doubt they'd want switch.

WD Elements 1 TB Bricked

I just lost a big chunk of my life. Oh by-the-way I'm here in the Philippines on vacation. I just bricked my 1 terrabyte external HDD. While it was powering down, I dropped it from a height of 6 inches. I tried plugging it again, but it didn't get recognized by my laptop. All it did was just make grinding noises. :(

Nintendo 3DS 2

Just not to confuse anyone, the "2" in the title is just a numbering as my 2nd post with the title "Nintendo 3DS".

My sister and I were at Gamestop today; I headed on over to the 3DS on display and saw the wear and tear on it.

The moment I saw my brother's 3DS; that was the exact thing that came to my mind. I guess it should be handled with care to make it aesthetically appealing.

My brother and I went grocery shopping the other day. I saw this Spam can and just had to buy it. I'm guessing it's limited to Guam.

It also has a local recipe on the back, for those who want to savor the island taste.

Upgraded the Router

Yesterday, I upgraded our router's firmware with the DD-WRT firmware.

The reason why I upgraded it with the DD-WRT firmware was because I couldn't sign into Spiral Knights, and many people on the forum with the Linksys WRT54G router couldn't sign in too. Plus, these routers are no longer supported by Linksys/Cisco.

From my understanding, DD-WRT enables some features to your router which it normally didn't have. I think it enables commercial-grade Cisco features (I think).

DSLR Sensor Cleaning

I cleaned my camera's sensor

I recommend not cleaning your camera sensor by yourself unless you already know the consequences of what would happen if you damaged your sensor.

When I found out that my camera's sensor was dusty and had growth on it, my heart just sank. Then I started researching on how can I clean my camera's sensor.

A lot of people say that the camera's sensor is very delicate and any damage to it will render your camera useless.

Then I found out from a website that the most used method is by swabbing the sensor with Eclipse and a Sensor Swab. I'm sorry, I can't remember the website.

Here's how my camera's sensor looks like before I cleaned it. You can clearly see the moldy growth and the dusts.

And here it is after cleaning it.

Phone Bill

While living in the Philippines, my sister told me when you receive a call on your cellphone, you don't pay for it. The person calling you pays for it. I mean why would you pay for a call you don't want? It also applies with landlines, not just domestic calls, but also international calls. Just as long as you're receiving a call, you don't pay for it.

When I used to have a cellphone here on Guam (over six years ago) I'd lose my prepaid credits from making calls and receiving calls. It sucks, when you call to check your balance and you hear you have negative balance and they'll charge it on the next time you reload your credits.

Why do we pay the phone bill both ways?

Not everyone knows it but I'm 1/4 Japanese, my grandma is Japanese.

I love Japanese food, just as long it doesn't have raw fish. I don't like it because the taste is just bland.

I remember my grandpa was eating sashimi and I was like "ooh sashimi" and he told me that he'd prepare a batch for me. So he did and I ate it and I did not like it cuz it was just bland.

Putting raw fish aside, I love Japanese food.

I love eating sushi with soy sauce mixed with wasabi.

Spiral Knights

I've been playing this game for about a week and it's great. It's a simple online game for the PC and it's FREE! The game is kinda like Zelda Four Swords or Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles for the Gamecube. Very simple.

MG Gundam Exia with Special Clear Armor Parts

I was thinking of selling my MG Exia for money, and that's when I found out it wasn't just a regular MG Exia.
